“Let’s Travel Tour 2024”: Traveling with Torqeedo Solutions

When it comes to Torqeedo, even a classic presentation becomes a reason to unite and share on water. It proved this on 30 May last year, when it officially kicked off its ‘Let’s Travel Tour 2024’, with which it took the Travel Engine family all over Germany. To do this, the ‘Rund Um’ regatta was organised, in which 400 sailing boats participated on Lake Constance.

This was an important opportunity to present its latest electric drive solutions to the public, complete with test drive, and in particular the 1600 Watt Travel XP.

Protecting the present to preserve future generations

“We are excited to provide international audiences and water sports enthusiasts with the chance to experience our Travel Family in action on Lake Constance, Europe’s largest drinking water reservoir,” said Fabian Bez, CEO of Torqeedo GmbH, when presenting the long-awaited event.

To this day, the Lindau Sailing Days and the Rund Um regatta represent a true symbol for the nautical sector. And there couldn’t be a better stage than this to offer a closer look at the world of Torqeedo products. Each product offered in the company’s emission-free electric motor catalogs is not only intended to provide a unique navigation experience. The biggest goal is to preserve the present through various initiatives and options, so as to care for future generations as well.

The next goal? Abandoning combustion engines

The ‘Let’s Travel Tour 2024’ is a project that originated many years ago and certainly has a clear objective. Alternative, functional and high-performance propulsion solutions are sought, capable of eliminating the use of combustion engines by 2035.

The road to this goal is winding, but challenges are well accepted at Torqeedo. This is evidenced by its product catalogue, which includes systems to power a wide range of boats: from small inflatable boats to yachts and commercial vessels. And for every end product there is a solution. For example, the Deep Blue inboard aims to upgrade fossil fuel-powered ships with electric alternatives. This engine family is in fact combined with the Deep Blue Battery 80 for a fully integrated inboard propulsion system up to 100 kW.

For smaller boats comes the Travel family, offering innovation and sustainability to those who want to upgrade to an emission-free outboard. And finally we find the Cruise range, ideal for those who want to focus on higher power, perhaps on sporty, sailing boats.

The Chill project, pleasure boat

One of the latest developments from Torqeedo is the Chill, a pleasure boat from the Swiss boat manufacturer designboats and Heinrich-Werft. The boat is integrated with a Cruise pod engine and combines classic sporty design with modern electric technology, ideal for silent sailing and zero emissions. Its range is 100 kilometres.

As Heinrich-Werft’s production manager, Georg Wagenhan, explained, Torqeedo was chosen as a partner to equip a vessel capable of providing customers with maximum efficiency and reliability, while offering performance and protection when sailing.

Upcoming events will see Torqeedo continue a roadshow across Germany to support and organise popular watersports events, including the Kieler Woche. And it is precisely during these events that test drives will be offered to support maritime electromobility and thus make it accessible to all.
